Seen any good Okie blogs?
August 3rd, 2005In preparation for the Okie Blogger Round-up 2006, Okiedoke is initiating the 2005 Okie Blog Awards. Hopefully, I can learn from this year’s awards selection process so as to eliminate bugs in the more “prestigious” 2006 Awards next year.

The Okie Blog Awards are limited to Oklahoma bloggers only. (See here for all details.) The awards are not intended to be a popularity contest, but a true recognition of our peers as to the best bloggers in each of the following categories:
- Best Overall Blog
- Best Political Blog
- Best Family Blog
- Best Humor Blog
- Best Audio Blog
- Best Blog Layout
- Best Unusual Blog
- Best Writing Blog
- Best Culture Blog
- Best Inspirational Blog
- Best Commercial Blog (company sponsored)
I hope you’ll take the time to help me make these awards a recognition that we can all appreciate.
Good luck, and may the best blogs win!

I haven’t seen any but if I do I’ll certainly
tell you!
Keep up the good work Mike!

Questions Mike, I have questions (no surprise there). Can we nominate the same blog for different categories? Do you want commentary with our nominations; or, plain flat out nominations? Why or why did you exclude Okiedoke? I didn’t notice that rule until second glance. This totally screws up my list as you are one of the best!

Can we nominate the same blog for different categories?
Yes.
Do you want commentary with our nominations; or, plain flat out nominations?
Plain flat out nominations. If more than ten different blogs are nominated in a category, the top ten blogs receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot. Of course you are free to campaign for any nominees on your blog.
Why did you exclude Okiedoke?
If a situation arises where I am called to make a controversial decision, I will feel more comfortable not having Okiedoke in the equation.
This totally screws up my list as you are one of the best!
Thank you. You see, I’m already a winner!

What do Podcasts fall under Audio Blog?
August 3rd, 2005 at 6:33 pm
Yes, the Audio Blog category is for Podcasts.
August 3rd, 2005 at 6:45 pm
I don’t see any Podcasts under your list on the right under Okie Blogs?
August 3rd, 2005 at 6:56 pm
Blog Oklahoma has a list of Oklahoma blogs utilizing Podcasts.
And also other Oklahoma blogs not on my list.

Does anyone actually read company blogs???
August 5th, 2005 at 8:16 am
I’m not sure, but I think it may be part of my employee rules book.

Mike, do you have any snazzy buttons for us to steal for our sites? I’d love to promote the contest, as I know I have several oklahoma readers that may not know about it.

One other thing, is there any limitations on WHO is allowed to vote. Do they have to be bloggers and do they have to be from Oklahoma?
August 5th, 2005 at 9:06 pm
All nominating and voting is by Oklahoma bloggers.
No buttons planned, but you’re welcome to the logo on the left sidebar. Or I’ll be glad to reduce the size of the logo in this post to a width of your choosing.

I would like to nominate an Okie blog for “Best Culture Blog.” He is from Oklahoma (Tulsa area) but he is up north because his country needs him and his superiors made the decision to send him there. His heart is always with Oklahoma and everyone loves this guy.

Sorry, but I don’t want to start taking nominations in comments. And it doesn’t sound like he qualifies.
But the nomination procedure is here.
August 9th, 2005 at 2:32 pm
I’ve been notified by someone who is not an okie blogger who has sent in a nomination on this contest. I know you said here in the comments that nominating and voting is only by okie bloggers but it doesn’t say that on the details/nomination page. I wanted to give you a heads up on this, as it may cause some confusion.

Thanks for alerting me. I have corrected that omission.
