Easy go …
November 26th, 2008
I seem to be running across more of this type of thing when updating my Okie blogs listing. Not just the lowly ones either.(Not that there’s anything wrong with us lowly bloggers.)
Checking back on previous Okie Blog Award winners: A whopping thirty-six percent (36%) of the top blogs in 2005 have folded. Of the 12 Award winners just last year, two of them have long been inactive.
And I’m no exception. I wiped out the first incarnation of Okiedoke back in December 2003. But not because I chose to.
Don’t ever change web servers during a full moon.
Of course I had a backup, however, sometimes there’s something to be said for a blank canvas. There’s also something to be said for blog structure.
Things should get better as I learn the subtle differences between PHP and Perl. I am now using an SQL database which should make for a more efficient site compared to the old flat file previously used.
By the way, my flexible criteria for removing a blog from the list is that if it posts nothing that interests me for a period of three months, it’s dead to me. Thankfully, for Okiedoke’s sake, The Lost Ogle blogroll standards haven’t been quite as demanding.
