McClendon puts the ‘Super’ in SuperSonics
August 23rd, 2007Last week I commented on this remark from OKC Seattle SuperSonic’s co-owner Aubrey McClendon.
… to the great amazement and surprise to everyone in Seattle, some rednecks from Oklahoma, which we’ve been called, made off with the team.
To which I added:
Sure, it sounds bad, but ol’ Aubrey was just being himself. Billionaires can afford to do that.
Measly NBA millionaires had better keep their mouths shut.
Seattle SuperSonics co-owner Aubrey McClendon was fined $250,000 for comments he made last week about his team’s possible move to Oklahoma City.
I can’t wait to hear the NBA comment on this one.
National Basketball Association spokesman Tim Frank, who confirmed the fine in an e-mail, said the league wouldn’t be issuing a statement about its decision.
Huh? No statement? What a wimp! You can sure tell Tim Frank isn’t a billionaire.
Can’t wait for the Sonics to arrive in Oklahoma. I see a whole new blogging category here on Okiedoke dedicated only to McClendonisms. That is if I can afford the extra server space needed.

Did the NBA ever release an official statement as to why McClendon was fined?
