Mr. Taylor, will you please shut up!

March 28th, 2006

And the tale of Tuttle’s Taylor continues

Jerry Taylor, the now famous city manager of Tuttle, Oklahoma, who last week threatened to call the FBI to stop Linux maker CentOS from helping him configure a web server has presented The Register with a massive request. Taylor wants us to shut down the internet.

The sad thing is that Taylor reflects on all Okies:

The whole debacle in Oklahoma should not come as a shock to anyone. This is exactly the sort of thing that happens when you give people in developing countries computers. If we can just manage to stay the course, we can help these poor bastards overcome the gap.

And Raytheon too:

I’m still mystified how someone with a BSEE (or part of one) and 22 years at Raytheon can’t know understand “OS” and “network administrator.”

Addendum – dustbury says “cut the guy some slack”.
-
Will it ever end?

In fact, the Linux zealots have now proposed that an unreasonable support request be called a “Tuttle.”

This made me laugh out loud.

It’s so ludicrous, how could it possibly be true?

    Only in Oklahoma…

    later…

  2. CrazyPenguin Says:

Can you just imagine how The City of Tuttle is run with Jerry as one of their fearless leaders? I would bet this event is only a teaspoon full out of a bucket of some of Jerry’s other shenanigans. LOL
