I thought the purpose of taxes was to provide funding for the government.  Now we have a &#039;&#039;voluntary tax&#039;&#039; (debatable) for education.

However education is absolutely a neccessity for society and should be the last thing we cut and the first thing we fund by public taxation.

If the lottery is such a good thing for the citizens of Oklahoma, why don&#039;t we take the entire state budget and buy lottery tickets in Texas?
