Last days inside the plant - Feb. 21, 2006
“There’s no way to sugarcoat the bad news about the loss of Oklahoma City’s General Motors plant. This facility provided good jobs held by good people. A look around the state of Oklahoma today provides some positive examples of a ‘high-end’ surge, but this turn of events is especially discouraging news at a time of stress and strain for American manufacturers.
- Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau

The tornado aftermath - May 8, 2003
A Tornado Watch was broadcast and picked up by the NOAA Weather Radio All-Hazards receiver in the plant’s security office at 4:33 p.m. A well-rehearsed safety and preparedness plan was quickly put in motion. By the time the tornado struck the plant at 5:30 p.m., all 1,200 employees had moved to tornado shelters. There were no deaths and no injuries.
___________
“GM’s decision to rebuild our plant after the tornado and to donate the tornado damaged vehicles to be used for training Oklahomans is evidence of GM’s commitment to this state, to its people and its future,”
- Tyree Miner, Plant Manager
